I can see where both of you are coming from.
I can see that this is all to directly benefit us and the club so we can get more out of it. So there is no problem in that is there. But i can see where Soffit is coming from and that if we do work hard and pay more money and the club becomes more successful, then Stoo will make relatively more money from more hits for not doing anything extra

I agree that we need to move forward but so what if he makes a little more money, surely we are here to enjoy ourselves and learn new things? The extra money that we do put in, goes directly to making the club better, overall, making our experience better.

I am in the happy to donate camp, but an amount I would like to decide. As said, not interested silly pens etc just for the sake of it.

When I joined I think it was FREE to join and when the site changed its new member policy this was honoured, although I made a 'token donation'. Not having a go Soffit, but if Stoo really wanted to make money he could charge a yearly subs to join each year, like some other car club sites.

I am actually quite surprised how cheap it is to run a site now, but bet it wasn't always like that, and I am sure as people became more internet aware the amount of click thru cash has reduced as well. Not advercating doing our own thing, just that if it really was expensive then WE would have to dip into OUR pockets more often.

He did try putting the sub upto £8.50 per annum once but it came down again. Just for info Cheesy

It come back again to are we being taken for suckers or not? We just don't know and thats the rub. We are being asked to do more than just pay a sub; we are being asked to invest in the club. Thats like being a shareholder in a company and shareholders get information to act on or not.

The 207 is still 8.50 it seems  Cheesy

And I think you are looking at it wrong, as I have tried to explain..

Stoo offers a web based forum in return for (compared to a lot of sites) a fairly low cost - this will always remain whatever we decide

We want more for the club... then we pay a bit more..

thats my simple logic anyway

Fair enough, you been a longer termer than me  Grin, but if it a voluntary extra then peeps have the choice, if you don't want/need extra then don't pay.

I'm on other sites, but only pay if I use the site alot or find extras useful. That's why it good to have the discussion, cos with all other sites out there, paying/joining all of them is not an option, for me anyway.

And luckily i was just about to reinforce my point that this is somethng I want to publically decide, while it was my suggestion and I am playing devils advocate to questions if its not wanted -  it wont happen and as i said forum will stay as it is
