Right been having a chat and this is similar to an idea Stoo proposed a while ago. Basically We have obviously some very active members these members want things like banners for club meets etc You have paid your membership obviously but that money needs to go to running the web based forum. Stoo can add a seperate "Donate" button which will automatically send an agreed amout ie a fiver/tenner into a set up paypal account for the 107oc forum. and in return you get - a special usergroup name like Super member or (something less cheesey)
- One exclusive board for chat that is not really moderated ie swearing, 16+ and and off topicness is allowed etc ..(we have something like this on toyota owners)
- Club stickers/Set of flyers?
- Anything else we wish to make exclusive?
And of course the money is then used to pay for banners or cards, meets or whatever through public discussion and agreement is made. What do you think? ANy further ideas and comments? [/list]

OK I know I only posted this this morning but I wont be offended if you all say I hate it its a rubbish idea..I wont cry I promise...no reponse doesnt give me a clue at all what your thinking If this was set in place do you feel you would donate in return for what is offered and to help get things for the club I guess is what I am asking? If your not sure..write your not sure and state what it is that concerns you

Sounds a good idea, is there a minimum payment or just what you can afford. I would be happy to donate regularly/yearly as you only pay once when you join, some other clubs I've belonged to have yearly subs, and websites etc don't run for free, although getting something extra will hopefully tempt peeps.
Not for me to say, but you could make selling a car needing this extra status, cos even if it costs you say a £5 min it still cheaper than Adtrader, eBay etc., but selling car parts/mods would put people off imo.
As you say a free 107oc sticker like Vamps is doing and some extra boards may be tempting, but possibly only the hardcore membership will cough up, but you never know until you try it.

I think it would be an agreed amount but nothing to high
I agree about selling car status thing as well could be another benefit
I am aware it porbably will be the more hardcore group which is why I am trying to think of things that would appeal to members which wouldnt cost us

this is the only thing I would like to develop with the club we have afew discounts arranged but not much, it needs someone with the time to email /write to companies to ask for discount in return for advertising etc.
and yeah if we charged that we could offer that to but I dont think anyone would pay that

I use this forum frequently so don't mind 'Donating' but I hate the idea of a exclusive forum for those that have donated that is seriously bad IMHO

It is something that is quite common on boards, they have recently implemented a similar version of this on toyota club which i can see and is fairly well used, is used for really off topic chat nonesense and slightly more adult talk that would not be allowed on the normal boards, and its the only thing I can think of that provides a return/incentive so to speak in peoples investment without costing the club money which would defeat the point of trying to get money in.
And we have it already here in a sense a only paid members can access certain boards so this is just another level up from that really
But this is why I want peoples feedback, if a lot of people dislike the extra board idea then fine that wont happen but what DO people want to see in return for their donation that wont cost the club money?

I like the idea of donating certainly. I would gladly donate £5 every 6 months/year or something As you said stig, a sticker would be something to offer as part of donating. I think the extra forums are a little bit too much elitism really, but offering donators extra posting opportunities? Like allowing them to post larger photos? Maybe offer them a little underbanner in their sig? Like a small rectangular thingy with some text on showing their devotion, kinda in a quirky and not so serious way?
Just some ideas

Well whenever i post a photo it gets re-sized to a maximum size, if the original size is greater than the one set by the forum. I can do them on photoshop but stars sound a lot simpler and more easier to implement

Im not sure I'd be prepared to donate.
Every time Ive had to try to contact Stoo - whether it was trying to get some support for the national meet gazebos or t-shirt sponsorship, finding out where the existing club funds go (not complaining as I enjoy and use the site) or trying to find out why I, or other people have been banned I haven't heard a word
Square root of f**k all
Nothing

Well this is kinda the point of this
Stoo has made it clear the funds income from normal membership only cover the web based forum and there isnt enough for the running a proper owners club, so this where we can input our own money and have additional benefits for the club, the money will be seperate from stoos funds.

I would be willing to donate some funds to the 107oc massive. But I would want some kind of special title under my name to make me look special.
