I expect this post should really be in technical queries however that forum will not give me the option to raise a new topic so I ask my question here. I have just recently purchased a 107 urban 5 door an overall think it is a great car however when I test drove the vehicle I noted that the clutch had a very high bite point and thought the clutch to be worn out. On collection as agreed the paperwork stated and was signed for as having been fitted with a new clutch. I have now been driving the car for around 4 weeks and although the clutch does not appear to be slipping it still has a very high bite point and is taking some getting used from previous vehicles I have driven. I am now concerned that although a new clutch was stated as being done a new clutch may not have been fitted after all. Please can anyone confirm if the btie point is normally high on these cars and if it can be adjusted (although with a new clutch it should not be needed).

I was in exactly the same boat as you regarding high biting point and that I was told my car had a new clutch.
4 months later my clutch began to slip and I ended up paying £300 for a replacement.
BEWARE.

Stig and Miklads posts contradict each other so you could be forgiven for being confused. The car does have a high bite point from new and the clutch is a weak point so not as contradictory as may first appear. Without taking the clutch out for a looksee you just have to take " We fitted a new clutch' with a rather large pinch of salt..... what garage will go to such expense to gain your custom?.... "The bites a bit high" " No problem Sir, we'll fit a new clutch" In our dreams

Mine has been high since I bought it (with 7,400 on the clock) - I now have 23,000 on the clock and its still high (but the clutch is still in one piece. . . touch wood!)

The clutch on these cars is adjustable at the gearbox end of the cable, you turn the plastic k**b on the outer cable to adjust the bitting point.ive done mine twice in 20000 miles/2 1/2 years. There is also an adjustable stop on the pedal that you can move. Ive got mine vertually level with the brake pedal.

Does the pedal have about an inch of free play? If not it needs adjusting.

Yes the clutch has about an inch of free play after biting however all other vehicles I have driven had a lot more than that so thats why I am concerned my clutch may be nearly worn out or about to go

I suggest you try iang's suggestion. The k**b is a bit tight but you can set it to a point that suits you.

I have a similar problem with mine, high bite and now a little judder. It's just been in for a 10,000 service and the bite was lowered and they confirmed the judder. They are going to speak to Peugeot about this and if it can be done under warranty (17000 miles only and 18 months old) If I have to pay I may get in touch with BBC watchdog as it seems this common (to the Toyota and Citroen too) problem is being overlooked by Peugeot. I'll let you know of any developments.

I'm at 64,000 now and I have just been phoning around for a quote on my clutch.
My gears went super tight and no free play on the pedal, then I noticed it wasn't disengaging properly; as my dad put it 'totally f***ed'.
£225 parts and labour.

The guy said something like that it was for a Toyota engine and if it was a Peugeot one then It could be as low as £130. He was going to look when I take it in tomorrow.
