I read about this yesterday. Bit of a big mistake on Toyota's part. I only thought it occurred on new toyotas?

Yeah, it's Rav4s. The carpet around the pedals isn't shaped very well and on some cars the throttle pedal has been catching on the edge and not returning. Brown pants time if it happens to you, though slapping your left on the clutch will save the day if the panic doesn't freeze you.
Not sure yet if it affects RHD models, where the pedal sits far more inboard the car than it would on LHD ones.

And they're also talking about replacing pedal mechanisms too. Seems like they're not entirely sure what the cause is so they're covering all bases, which is fair enough.

As you say Handsome, they being quite responsible as sounds like a part in the accelerator mechanism fitted to multiple models, so at least they owning up to problem. Hopefully this part only real problem in specific vehicles.
Unlike Renault with their dodgy Clio bonnet catches who took ages to accept a problem.

My dads has the Clio that was effected and he got a letter from Renault way before watchdog reported it which was weird, it was cars that were simply not being services properly or looked after, looked on the VOSA website and the 107 and C1 r not effected, have to keep checking just in case this changes

email I've today sent to Peugeot UK:
"We own two 107's registered in 2006 and 2007.
We note that the Toyota AYGO of this vintage is subject to the accelerator pedal recall by Toyota UK.
Is Peugeot planning a similar recall for the 107 in view of the shared common parts between the Toyota and the Peugeot?"

Wrecked body or wrecked engine ;the choice is yours Rev limiter - it'll cut every second spark for a short period (8 or 10 seconds), then shut the ignition off entirely until revs drop right down again. That said, the rev limiter may have been designed by the man who designed the pedals... It'd be interesting to see if they are fitting modified parts to the Aygo, or simply inspecting them to cover their bottoms, before hassling PSA with emails on something about which they may genuinely have no knowledge.
