Cheers qed It was interesting when it broke - gunned it away from a set of lights in a 40mph which quickly changes to a 70mph zone, open the throttle, shifted up and . . . . Nothing!! Clutchless shifted up and was riding along pulling my clutch in and out thinking 'huh??' I'll have to pop along to my local yam to get a replacement this Saturday - guess I'm stuck with the pug until then Did you get it fixed? Mrs QED bought a brand spankers Kawasaki ER6F at t'weekend. She should get it tomorrow Ill post some pics. She mainly bought it for the ABS. Anyone want to buy a silver suzuk sv650, 11k and modified for the shorter of stature.

Order the part £12 - collect it this weekend.
I looked at the ER6-n when looking at bikes, the ER6-f is lovely with the fairing though!! Looks more racey.

I quite like the look of the ER6. Mrs Qedders should have a bit of fun with that.

Should be a nice bike. Its in black and will have heaty grips (as she calls them). also an inch taken out of the seat foam and the forks dropped at the front and the preload at the rear. Kawasaki seemed to have improved the level of finish on the bike. I want a new bike too! (But want to keep my old one)

The designs simple, yet clever. The shock placement is smart, and Kwak's finish has always been a cut above Suz and Yam.
The engines been seriously re-engineered over the years and is a gem. Way back when it started life as essentially half a GPZ1000RX and has evolved very nicely over 2 decades into the lively and reliable thrummer it is now. I wouldn't say no to one as a tool for commuting.

I used to use a ER-6 demo bike quite a bit in my previous job. I used to love humiliating big bike riders on it. They handle really well, and I never encountered any problems apart from a oil pressure switch leaking. It just needed re-sealing. They are a whole new engine from the ER5/ GPZ engine you mentioned HD. The ER-6 was designed from the ground up as a new wave of middleweight bikes, hence the release of the KLR650 Versys etc. They are a bullet proof engine with a cassette gearbox, and massive crankcase venting chambers so that it can really rev. Totally different to the ER5 engine.
I used to build quite a few shortarse versions. Can you not buy a lowered seat as an option anymore? It used to save cutting the original about.

Yes, why was I thinking of the EX500? It's not like there's much change in the architecture. I think bore centres are even the same spacing. A clever little unit.
It's funny how a 600 barely counts as a middleweight these days, when 40 years back it would've been pretty big.
What's the seat height like on the ER6? Enough room for someone as fa...er, hunky as me? What sort of torque does it churn out? I found my weight overwhelmed the R6 a bi, unless the engine was being ridden 8/10s or higher, which gets a littlw tiresome, which means I still prefer a more sensible 600 which hasn't sacrificed all it's low and mid range for a 10k+ RPM rush.
So many questions!

Ha, I'd be happy just to have all the components for my bikes in the same county!
