One question?

Under the tank was two electrical connectors, a fuel line, & what I think were two breather tubes? When I reinstalled the tank I held it and I got my bro to give me a hand to reconnect the bits & bobs. What's the worse that can happen if the  'breather pipes' are the wrong way round???

Ahh, so I don't really want to be getting them mixed up right. I did fire the bike up after installing the tank, started first time & seemed fine ? Guess I had a 50/50 chance of getting it right - I'd like to be 100% sure it's the right way though.

I'll hope HD see this Smiley

I'll check the 'owners manual' in the morning, that should have the answer.

one of them might be a vacuum pipe.

Sorry guys, was off dogging so been busy.

Ok, I guess one will be the fuel and one will be a breather.  Get it wrong and the bike just won't start.

Alas, Spackberry doesn't let me view the pics so I'll try find a real computer.

The two tubes you mention are both breather/vent tubes. One is a tank breather, the other is a drain for the filler neck so any spilt fuel vents away to the floor if you splash some filling up with fuel. They are both doing a similar job, so it won't matter if you mix them up.

TC works on modern bikes for a living so I would take his word as the law....

In practical terms he's right, though some bikes breathers go through a charcoal cannister.  Not that I think it makes any difference to just rip it off and bin it, though they get awfully upset about such things in California.

Would Timecrasher mind popping round and re-inserting my FZRs engine, rebuilding the V-Max's V-Boost inlets and repainting the engine cases, and completely restoring the XS250 for me?  A cup of tea and a digestive in it for him, maybe a Hob Nob if he does a good job Wink

Cheers Tim Smiley

I followed them through the frame and found these two tubes hanging from below Smiley Smiley

Installed after market front indicators :

Adjusted my chain, Recoated the tank in two coats of 'petrol resistant' lacquer & pretty much painted every plastic part left on the bike today :

Only part left to do is the airbox (below the riders seat) - one side is drying, the other hasn't been touched yet.

I'm pretty happy with the outcome Smiley Smiley Im soo happy I did the work myself!! Sure, a professional would have done it perfect, but would have charged me a small fortune ! Plus I feel like I know my way around my bike a bit better now !  plan on trying to sell it in September/October time.
