something must have been changed because that output is exactly the same as what the petrol should be

Not at all. I've had it since new and I put a fresh clean standard air filter in and always use BP Ultimate Diesel. Also the petrol version gets 93 Nm of torque Vs the 187 Nm peak torque on this diesel
