I think the whole award voting thing is not objective and in my opinion completely useless the way it is organised.

Why in God's name is the user "Googlebot" nominated for the award "best male member" for example?
The user Googlebot is a machine and machines do not have a gender and don't contribute anything to the forum!

OK, I won the award for "most helpfull member" but to be hounest, it does not mean anything to me.

Was just a bit of fun for a laugh, I dont think anyone was taking it seriously, nice to be recognised for somethings, ie your helpful member award but if it doesn't mean anything to you then pass it on to someone who it might or throw it in the bin.

I put googlebot in as I jokingly said - we had no nominees so I put everyone in for male member who had replied to the nominees thread and who was online at the time, and googlebot was online.

I apologies REFZ if you had thought the awards were serious. They were not intended that way. If people want serious awards with serious prizes then it could be something we could organise, however given the lack of interest in a) nominating and b) voting I doubt it is something that would be worthwhile.

Also soffit, MiG and Rik, I apologies if you really thought you had been nominated as transgenders, although this was not to make fun of transgenders in anyway as everyone is welcome here, but again was just banter.

The fact that the award thing was not to be a serious business makes it even worse.
This forum is not was it used to be, it is getting worse every day with all those stupid chat topics.

Oh my god its effecting you lot as well, I created a competition on the 207oc and I was funding the prize out of my own pocket..... It was a sensible comp but not car related ..... two men were so rude I scrapped it and locked it then I had lots of members sticking up for me and want it back but to be honest if people are rude and cant have a bit of fun whats the point not everything had to be car related!!!!
It would be boring otherwise as the 207oc is more serious than here!!

But I think Refz is right in some ways you do have alot of polls etc bit much to keep track of ha ha ha  Cheesy

People are here for different reasons and get different things from the forum, if people are not here for general off-topic chat and are merely interested in 107 technical items then that is fine they do not have to enter this section to enjoy the rest of the site, but plenty are here for the chat and banter as well and maybe not that interested in the the technical items, doesnt make them any less welcome.

Personally I think a lot of the technical items have been 'done' there is only so many times we can talk about alloys, ariels and spoilers, not that as time goes on we wont find more technical items to discuss. Plus thanks to the contributions of people like Codders, Turbo, MiG, yourself and others as well, we have an excellent how to section for people to use and hope this will continue to develop.

As I said in previous post, I don't think 'serious' awards would be viable, if you feel the need to create a serious award for which ever title you feel you would like to hold then the poll making machine is at your disposal. And as far as I am aware they were not taken seriously last year either. After all, it is only the internet!

Sparky - maybe there were to many, but I was trying to include as many people as possible and some were added and created from the suggestions in the original thread.
