Here's a picture of Toyota's new IQ City Car, due here in December, same engine as the 107, but only 3 metres long!

If they make that cheap enought, they're on to a winner! I really like it, although it looks as if the rear windows are in the wrong way round!

Thanks for the pics, first decent ones I've seen of it. Agree looks aren't the best, but at least Toyota are building it similar to concept.

Toyota are probably builiding it with long term view to sticking batteries in it or some piddly low emission engine to fulfil their quota of low/zero emission cars in future.

I think the seating layout is very clever and and sqeezing 3 adults + child out such small footprint is brilliant, will cover high percentage of small family peoples journeys.

How much  Roll Eyes, what is it with small cars and high prices, that is what put us off getting a Smart ForTwo, and their iffy reliability!

I like it, and I love the idea of having a specced-up small car. The problem for people with more money, is that they look at small, economical cars and look at the lack of features (see my fiesta courtesy car posts for example), so it's good to see a small car designed for those people.
Here's extra that I've found from Toyota main site

I agree.

I think a top spec tiny car, that's not as weird or strange as a smart (decent gear box!) will sell well. I think Pug/Cit/Toyota were surprised how the ecomony and 'greeness' of the 107/C1/Aygo became one of its main selling points, when it was originally designed firstly to be cheap and cheerful! I'd by one of those IQ's for £10K if it had all the toys and quality of build!

Same... in a few years time, when I'm a fully-fledged Aerospace Engineer for Flybe... 'till then, I'll be lucky to still afford to run the C1, let alone buy a 10k car! Tongue

Reckon they'll do a Pug/Citroen version too, since the engine's a PSA?

Ooh, and I bet it'll go like stink, especially if they give it that rumoured upgraded engine from PSA with the turbo!  Cheesy

Just been reading a bit more into this and it has the same engine as the Aygo/107/C1 and yet produces 10 less grammes of CO2 per kilometre. This got me thinking.

1) How did they improve it?
2) Can the update be done to existing 1.0l VVT-i units?

The interior of the car looks pretty swish but I'm wondering what the point of it is? It's more expensive than the top of the range Aygo (if you go for some extras which you will) and you lose space for one person. Jury's out for me.
